Skin care routine with psoriasis
The most common topical problems include - psoriasis, eczema, acne, dull skin.
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease that manifests itself most visibly through red, well-defined spots, protruding prominently in relief and covered by white scales. Although categorized as a skin disease, psoriasis is still a systemic disease. It starts inside the body. In over 30% cases, the origins are genetic.
Depending on the age and location of the wounds, psoriasis is divided into several typologies:
- Inverted psoriasis - it occurs most often in overweight people and mainly affects the skin on the armpits, under the breasts, in the genital area, or in general where it folds.
- Pustular psoriasis - is most often found on the hands and feet and presents pustules with non-infectious pus, with red edges.
- Psoriasis vulgaris (in plaques) - the most common. Over 80% of psoriasis diagnoses are for this form. It occurs most frequently on the elbows, knees, scalp and lumbar area. The skin develops thickened, scaly patches that can be red, white, silver.
- Psoriasis gout – a rare form, which is thought to be triggered by stress. It is most often found in children and young people. It manifests itself in the form of small red dots, with the appearance of bark.
- Erythrodermic psoriasis – the rarest form. It is also called exfoliating psoriasis and the wounds appear in the form of severe burns that can threaten the patients' lives.
Treatment of psoriasis
The treatment is divided into 3 categories: topical - local applications, phototherapy by exposure to UVB rays, and systemic, which takes into account the whole body.
Topical drug treatments include substances such as corticosteroids and retinoids.
A remedy known for many years and with proven results scientific in improving the symptoms of psoriasis is the mud from the Dead Sea.
The very high concentration of salts and minerals in the mud turns it into a therapeutic product. Effectively treats areas with thickened skin and scales, reducing topical inflammation and reducing the symptoms of stinging, itching and "sticky skin".
The minerals from the Dead Sea act in several ways in the treatment of psoriasis:
- The high magnesium content in the mud increases skin elasticity and reduces inflammation
- Repeated baths with salts from the Dead Sea act on the affected areas by reducing the surface and improving the quality of the skin. Due to the nature of the minerals contained, a softening of the excess of epidermal keratin is produced, which allows later treatment using creams and lotions.
The approach to psoriasis relief requires a complete treatment with minerals from the Dead Sea. It takes into account all forms of application:
- Yes with mineral salts 1-2 times a week, 15-20 minutes each
- Tablets with mud 1-3 times a week, applied in a thin layer, kept between 15-30 minutes and rinsed with warm water
- Creams with rich formulas, unctuous, with a high mineral content, applied after bathing or mud compresses. They have the role of prolonging and increasing their effect. The creams are reapplied throughout the day to ensure hydration and to avoid additional drying and scaling of the affected areas.
